Sandra Lee is the librarian at University Canada West. She is a graduate of the UBC School of library and Archival Studies program and has worked in public libraries, focusing on children’s library services and literature for young people. She spent five years in Hong Kong teaching in the library studies programs at the Faculty of Education of The University of Hong Kong. James was a colleague at HKU and has forever changed her life– an important mentor who has created much (interesting) work for her, despite being half-a-world away. She has taught classes online for the University of British Columbia Teacher Librarian certificate program. She has taught cataloging, children’s literature, knowledge management and information retrieval. Her research interests include information literacy, information policy and adult learning. She returned to Canada in 2005 and although she is from Alberta, she relocated to Victoria where winters are milder and her family can easily access beaches and the Gulf Islands.
