I have been a classroom teacher since 1979, and a qualified teacher-librarian since 1995. (Grad Dip Teach Lib CSU 1995, M.App.Sci. Teach. Lib. 1998). After five years as a learning support teacher in the middle, I saw first-hand what a great book can do for a poor reader and grew passionate about matching students to text, for reading level and for interest and enjoyment, about finding THE book that will turn a student into a reader and send them on their independent learning journey.

As technology advanced in the 90s I somehow changed from a technophobe to an enthusiast. In the 21^st century I watch students become energized about learning through engaging in meaningful inquiry using technology. Somehow we have to meld the two. Web 2 is my new passion because, integrated by good educators, I think it will do just that.
