James Henri

Founding Director

James Henri has a background in economics, philosophy, education, publishing and librarianship. Henri currently provides consultancy services to individual schools, and organisations; professional development to teachers and teacher librarians; and facilitates online learning for a number of universities. Henri is known internationally for his pioneering research into school librarianship and information literacy. He has over 300 published books, book chapters and refereed papers. Henri was Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong 2001-2008 where he developed a suite of outstanding library science courses.

From 1998-2001 Henri was an Associate Dean at Charles Sturt University. From 1985-1998 Henri was Senior Lecturer in Teacher Librarianship at Charles Sturt University where he assembled an internationally renowned caste of educators and distance programs. From 1985 Henri has held numerous appointments as a Visiting or Adjunct Professor in North America, Asia and Europe.

Henri has been at the cutting edge of distance delivery and online learning for three decades in a variety of capacities: as a course designer, as a teacher and professional development provider, and as researcher. He has a reputation as an outside the teapot thinker. Henri has been a leader in professional associations and he is the immediate past president of the International Association of School Librarianship. Previously he was Chair of the IFLA Section for School Libraries and Resource centres.
